As those hoosiers kept saying We spent a month that weekend in Nashville.
Oh Boy Records banner celebrating John's #1 slot in the Americana charts, and this
was his 4th week of being in the top five albums.
Andy and I (is he looking kind of glad that I am on the outside of
the door?)
Hanging out at the hotel on a beautiful Autumn day with a bunch of familiar
stranger faces.
Once familiar we started with the hotel bar and took cabs to Broadway St. Friday night.
We had a hell of time with us, ourselves and we. We spent some time at some disco
and lost our "young'n pretty one" to more tame crowd. Kathy and I
(drunk with excitement and maybe other stuff to) stopped to tell the local police that
there was a new Sheriff in town (and made some tacky nightstick remark) ... good thing he
didn't the sign....or we could have found ourselves in the Nashville pokey for a variety
of reasons. (I am sure there's got to be a law about fondling a Police Officer's
nightstick in a suggestive manner or riding a sphinx)
Shameless Oh Boy! pictures and fanatical historical stuff
John's little brother Billy says, "Yeah, he got all the talent
and I got the height"
Nancy and I took off to do a little sightseeing before the show...and we ended up in the
Ryman during the soundcheck...
We met up at Tootsies Purple Orchid across from the Ryman and Donna and Nancy helped sing
a Prine song
I hadn't seen these guys in months....
and Mama Prine hadn't seen John at a concert in 10 years she says.
"C'mon up here Billy and let's sing this one for mom"
Billy, Fiona, Iris, John, and Jason
After the show the whole wad of us moved to
our hotel and proceeded to Prine and smoke the place up...(sorry Al, but you had
to be there)
