There's A
Girl In Cedar Rapids
|
John Prine with Pat McLaughlin at the
Paramount Theatre, Cedar Rapids, IA |
April 19,
2003 ~by Reeda Buresh, the John Prine Shrine |
Pat McLaughlin
Pat (a Cedar Rapids boy himself once) entered the stage, and the folks
behind us were having an inebriatingly good time, and the man on
my right turned around told them that he "was sure that everyone
paid to hear the people on stage." Anyway, they did quiet down and
realized that it was a good show. Pat was great... just as great as the
night before. Stomping, moving, doing that neck thing - I just love to
watch this guy do his perform.
His set list (sorry for botching up the titles)
1 Can't Take it from me
2 Now Look At You
3 Little Child
4 Sure ain't now Friendly Bird
5 Somebody Say
6 Baby Ain't Got No Home
7 Hey Heyin'
8 See if
9 It's all right to be a redneck
Sound
The sound and setup was nicer
than the previous night.
The orchestra seats definitely were better and the speakers were set
behind us rather than in our face. It made quite a difference. We were
in the same sound envelope as the band, able to hear everything
amplified within this little perimeter. It caused the man on my
left to ask the folks behind us to quiet down. . . so we had two rows
peeved because they must have paid 40 bucks to have some
background music to attempt to talk over.
(I am sounding cranky, huh?) Hey,
you really don't have to drown out the act - right? |
